How to Write Powerful Goals, Pt 2

1. Identify your goals
   1. What is it that drives you?
   2. What motivates you?
   3. What do you really want?
   4. What is your dream?
   5. What is the big picture?
   6. Goals need to be important to you – a burning desire.
2. Create clearly defined, vibrant written goals in all areas of your life.  Download goals_worksheet.doc
3. Write out your goals as if they have already occurred – present tense, in the affirmative.  Turn your priority goals in to Affirmations.
4. Make your goals SMART
   1. Specific/Simple
   2. Measurable/Meaningful to you
   3. Attainable/As if Now/All areas of your life
   4. Realistic/Responsible
   5. Timeframe/Toward what you want
5. Identify the payoff of reaching your goals.  To reach your goals you will always have to be making choices.  What is different, better about your life when you have achieved your goals?
6. How committed are you to reaching your goals? In order to get what you want, you must be willing to change and grow – sometimes through discomfort.
7. Are you willing to take action now?  To keep your commitment, are you willing to say NO to the things that get in the way of you reaching your goals?  The true test of commitment is ACTION.
8. Review your goals daily.  Visualize it and Believe it. There is great power in this exercise. Place your written goals where you can see and review them daily.  Use Visual Goal Boards with pictures, visual depiction of your goals.  Reaffirm…Are you ready to take action NOW?
9. Measurement – You can’t improve what you don’t measure.
10. What will prevent you from reaching your goals?
11. What is the most important thing you will have to do daily, weekly and monthly to achieve your goals?
